Withycombe RFC - Formation of a Junior/Youth Section Committee
A fledgling Junior Section has existed at the Club since 2006 when an U11s team was formed. Next season we will be running teams at the following levels: U15s, U9s, U8s, U7s.  We also hope to run teams at U10s and U12s levels subject to finding suitable coaches.

WRFC’s long term aim is to develop a Junior/Youth Section fulfilling age groups from U7s all the way up to U16s, followed by a colts team(s) thereafter.  To effectively manage the development of this Junior/Youth Section it is timely that we, the Club and all interested parents/guardians/coaches formally organise ourselves to provide the necessary level of support to the various age groups.

Whether you have previous connections with WRFC or are a relative newcomer we have a fantastic opportunity to build something here and continue the good work already being done at the Club.  The long term development of a Junior/Youth Section at Withycombe Rugby Football Club can only help further promote the Club in the local community. We want to offer children of all ages the chance to come and enjoy the sport of rugby and all that it has to offer within a friendly, family rugby club.

Our next meeting will be on Monday 29th March at 8.00pm please come and lend support, your contribution will be greatly appreciated (the bar will be open).

Exeter Chiefs Super Saturday - 27th March 2010
Withycombe Juniors have landed a fantastic opportunity to take part in the day of the Exeter Chiefs round two play-off Championship game v London Welsh on Saturday 27th March 2010. This is open to all Junior age groups and it will be great to get as many of the boys and girls up to Sandy Park to enjoy a 2 hour training session with the Chiefs, a guided tour of the stadium/facilities and to then enjoy the game. The Juniors will also get the chance to line the players entrance on to the pitch.
The cost is £10 per attendee plus £10 per guest ticket for accompanying adults - please make out cheque to Withycombe RFC and hand in the completed form to the Club as soon as possible as we need to confirm numbers. Download the booking form here. See the Exeter Chiefs website for more details about Super Saturdays and how to get there.

This really is worth supporting as it gives the youngsters a special day out and also helps raise the profile of WRFC in the local community.

Sport Relief
We would like to invite you to take part in a "Sport Relief" event at Withycombe Rugby Club.  The event will take place at the club on Sunday 21st March at 1pm.  It will involve members running (or walking for "diddies") four times around the perimeter of Raleigh Park (approx.1 mile).
If you would like to take part please download a sponsor form from the Sport Relief
website.

Tesco Vouchers for Schools and Clubs
Withycombe RFC are now registered with the Tesco Vouchers for Schools and Clubs scheme.  The Schools and Clubs vouchers are being issued from the 1st March 2010.  We will have a collection box in the clubhouse. With a little support we should be able to get some useful kit for the Junior section, for example ball pumps, Gilbert balls, tag belts and tags.
We hope all members will remember the club when getting in the weekly shop!

East Devon Development Squad
Great news!  Two of our U14 players Connor Gilby, No.8 and George Toomey, No.10 took part in trials before Christmas and have been selected for the East Devon Development Squad.  This squad competes in a festival against squads from the other other districts including  north and south Devon in April.

Junior Players Chairman
A volunteer is badly needed to join the WRFC committee as Juniors Chairman. Ideally, we would like one of the parents to take up this commitment and act as the contact point between the committee and the thriving juniors playing section. If you think you can help please call the Club Chairman, Richard Blyth on 07966429440 or e-mail
